The diagnostic compares your cohort against two benchmarks: market requirements (the skills that employers test in technical interviews, derived from our database of active job listings and interview patterns), and peer institutions (anonymized data from other tier-3 colleges in your region and tier). The market benchmark tells you whether your students are competitive. The peer benchmark tells you whether your placement preparation program is outperforming or underperforming comparable institutions. The combination enables both diagnostic ('what is wrong?') and comparative ('are we doing better than similar colleges?') analysis.
The output includes a cohort readiness distribution (what percentage of students are at each readiness level), a skill-by-skill gap analysis (which specific skills have the largest gap between student capability and market requirements), an intervention priority ranking (which gap, if closed, would produce the largest improvement in placement outcomes), and trending data if the diagnostic is administered multiple times (is the cohort improving semester-over-semester?). The individual diagnostics are valuable regardless of cohort size — every student receives a personalized readiness report that they can act on independently.
Can we run this assessment annually to track improvement?
Yes. Annual assessment is the recommended cadence. The first year establishes your baseline. Subsequent years measure improvement against that baseline. After 3 years of annual data, you have statistically significant trend lines showing whether your placement preparation interventions are working and which interventions produce the largest improvements.
