How CGPA is calculated

Across all Indian engineering universities, CGPA is calculated using the same underlying method: a credit-weighted average of grade points. The formula is:

SGPA = Σ(credits × grade points) / Σ(credits) per semester
CGPA = Σ(SGPA × semester credits) / Σ(total credits)

What differs between universities is the grade scale (how letter grades map to grade points) and the percentage conversion formula. Our calculators use the specific grade scale and formula for each university so your result matches what you see on your marks card.
